Site Reliability Engineer - PHP/Laravel

Reporting into the Head of Technology, this role will be responsible for ensuring the continued stability and performance of Banxa production systems and implementing technology and processes that enable a proactive support strategy. Working with our existing SRE, you will manage the support function and help establish mature practices. Your day to day will involve interacting with stakeholders across the business and alongside experienced Developers, Testers and DevOps Engineers

• Provide operational support and engineering solutions for Banxa’s core systems and applications
• Liaise with external partners, stakeholders across the business and development teams for all support related queries
• Gather and analyse metrics from systems and applications to assist in and enhance performance tuning and fault finding
• Manage incident response, investigation and resolution; conduct root cause analysis and produce reports for all major incidents
• Participate in system design, platform management, storage and other planning associated with platform operations
• Proactively build and maintain sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
• Create and update technical documentation, processes and maintain a KB of all known issues, changes etc.
• Build and operate monitoring to ensure security, availability, reliability and performance of all systems
• Analyse current technology utilised within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them
• Help foster a culture of designing for, and expecting failure in production systems - a culture where learning and knowledgesharing is expected and a culture of sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortem

Requirements

• A degree in computer science, software engineering or a similar field would be advantageous
• AWS Developer, SysOps Administrator or DevOps Engineer certification
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to think critically and problem solve
• A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
• Ability to manage multiple different stakeholders from both technical and non-technical backgrounds
• Collaborative and innovative, with a CI/CD approach to improving current systems amp; processes Experience:
• At least 2-3 years experience working as an Application Support Engineer or experience with web application frameworks (Laravel)
• Experience with debugging code in Laravel and working with MySQL/MariaDB will be advantageous
• AWS experience (specifically EC2, Redis, RDS, S3, SQS, Cloudwatch)
• Exposure to any application monitoring tool such as Newrelic will be advantageous
• Previous experience working in an Agile environment is beneficial

Salary range: PHP 100,000 - 120,0
