Job Description
We are looking for highly skilled Actuarial Lead with a history in the Medicare sector, ideally with experience in a startup environment. This is a work from home (100% remote) position.
As an Actuarial Lead you will be responsible for guiding our thinking around risk management and beneficiary segmentation in partnership with our Lead Data Scientist, to help our partner providers better manage their Medicare panels.
Actuarial Lead should be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and an expert in actuarial modeling in the healthcare space.Responsibilities:- Build and maintain methodologies supporting core valuation functions (e.g. loss, risk adjustment, value based care, statutory capital, etc.)
- Develop sound models and views necessary to efficiently measure, monitor, and forecast Direct Contracting business
- Stay up to date on all Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) releases applicable to Direct Contracting as it relates to actuarial work
- Provide actuarial oversight on provider risk sharing arrangements
- Make recommendations for product design and manage risk-sharing arrangements to promote sustainable growth and aligned incentives with partnering providers
- Produce valuations and assist in managing financial model, budget, and fundraising
- Develop models and strategies to allow the reduction of patient cost-sharing and out-of-pocket expense
- Help produce analyses as needed to help scale out the company through its high growth years
- Drive actuarial best practices around risk management and forecasting, and foster a culture of automation, speed, and flexibility
- Help build systems across various talent functions to clearly communicate our business to investors, physician partners, CMS, and other relevant stakeholders

Qualifications:- 5+ years of relevant actuarial experience in healthcare, preferably in the Medicare Advantage or Medicare ACO space
- Fluent with actuarial principles, pricing, valuation, modeling, and product development
- Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, preferably SQL-fluent
- Success in a less structured start-up environment and ability to prioritize work with minimal management oversight.
