The Fiber Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate designs for use in planning, implementation and management of fiber optic based networks.The role is responsible for ensuring sound design principles specified by Network team are followed, while balancing business objectives designated by the relevant project lead or requestor and business.
The fiber designer works closely with the Engineering Manager, Project Manager and commercial managers to deliver designs which are follow design rules and are feasible, cost-effective, and cater to customer needs.
Key tasks are to assess inputs such as actual engineering survey data for buildings or outside plant areas and balance them with any business constraints or objectives and produce a plan which is able to be implemented.Qualifications
- Strong OSP/ISP and/or fiber skills
- Skills in any design tools e.g. QGIS, Autocad, Visio, Mapinfo, ENE etc and computer skills
- Supervisory or management experience
- Adaptable and can work with minimum supervision
- Strong communication skills and command of English
- Understanding of physical construction requirements
- Knowledgeable in telecommunications system design
- Knowledgeable in inside plant and outside plant passive optical networks (or similar)
- Adaptable and can work with minimum supervision
- Strong documentation skills
Preferred
- Degree in relevant area
- International experience
- Experience in a similar role
- Experience on GPON networks would be advantageous
- Strong OSP/ISP and/or fiber skills
Working conditions
- Overtime may be required to meet deadlines
- Will be working outdoors in some cases
