We started in California in 2004 and have expanded operations into China, India, Southeast Asia, East and West Africa, and Australia. Since 2004, New Energy Nexus has leveraged US$3.7 billion in investment, supported 1,200 clean energy startups, and nearly 9,000 entrepreneurs. Our bold goal is to support 100,000 clean energy entrepreneurs to succeed by 2030.

ABOUT THE ROLE amp; OPPORTUNITY

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing international NGO and create stories and content about some of the world’s most promising climate solutions. The Content Producer will drive a consistent drumbeat of storytelling through the creation of cutting-edge and exciting content for social media, email, and our website, with the aim to expand our reach and deepen engagement across our channels. This critical role will take our in-house content production to new levels as we inspire our target audiences (clean energy entrepreneurs, partners, and funders) to join our climate solutions movement!

Reporting directly to the Global Communications Director, you will be part of a small but mighty global communications team, which is part of the broader global team at New Energy Nexus. We work to support, enhance, and coordinate communication efforts in each of the 11 countries we operate in, while also managing all global channels, brand stewardship, and editorial processes.

A TYPICAL DAY

Your typical day is dynamic and ever changing. You’ll start your day organizing your top priorities with support from the Global Communications Director. You then check in on the performance of the social media posts you published yesterday, as well as the email newsletter you sent out last week, taking note of what changes you need to make to improve performance for next month. You’ll also scan Slack and other social media accounts to get ideas for how we can improve recruitment for one of our flagship global programs.

You’ll spend most of your day ideating, pitching, and crafting content: working on Canva to design beautiful and exciting content for our newly launched Instagram page, interviewing our CEO for an upcoming Qamp;A blog, and reformatting and updating evergreen content from last year. You’re always thinking about how we can get the most out of every piece of content we create. You’ll end the day reading about the latest Linkedin trends, and share your insights with the team on Slack.

This role can be located anywhere, as long as there is strong wifi and you’re flexible to meet staff in different timezones. We have a strong preference to have this role located in Asia, ideally in a country where we currently have a presence (China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam). Unfortunately, relocation assistance is not available for this role.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation

Design a range of impactful content that increases engagement and supports our program and brand awareness objectives:

  • Work closely with communication and program teams to initiate, research and write compelling treatments, storyboards, and pitches. Ensure ideas always fit within the New Energy Nexus brand content guidelines.
  • Create static and moving visual content for social media channels, especially Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, and X. Very occasionally, we may work with agencies for selected content outside our scope of expertise.
  • Social media copywriting in brand voice and to optimize engagement rates
  • Longform copywriting: blogs and online articles based on interviews conducted with subject matter experts and entrepreneurs and startups we support.
  • Produce video content, optimized for engagement and reach on social media channels
  • Produce a regular cadence of email newsletters and announcements, including drafting copy, layout, segmentation, and optimizing for performance.
  • Produce and design slide decks including organizing flow of information, rewriting in brand tone of voice, and designing according to brand guidelines
  • Occasionally design and layout briefs and reports according to brand visual identity
  • Oversee brand assets, updating and optimizing where needed, and setting up new design templates.
